The BEE International Seminar Bologna was a life changing experience for me. I always thought Kenya was the worst hit when it came to the challenge of youth unemployment but the conference opened my eyes to the fact that youth unemployment is a global issue. I learnt a lot from YouNet and how they have successfully acted as a bridge between various key sectors and I hope to replicate the same in my time as a volunteer at Itf Kenya and even afterwards. I was also inspired to be an ambassador of Work Based learning and VET in Kenya since it is one of the major keys in addressing youth unemployment.
The whole conference was perfectly organized; all the presentations were lively, the group discussions were so informative, the energizers were fun and the great ice breaking activities brought us all closer together. The conference changed my life by building my confidence; it empowered me by giving me so much knowledge on ways to address youth unemployment and above all it made me meet amazing people from all over the world and make life friendships.
The intercultural night was unforgettable; it was amazing to try out cuisine from 13 different countries. I always looked forward to dinner where YouNet took us to popular restaurants in Bologna and made me fall in love with Italian cuisine especially pasta, pizza and the very delicious Italian gelato. I tried yoga for the first time and it was an enriching experience for me and it left me refreshed every morning. I am so grateful to Kerron Vaishnav for his great lessons. I am also grateful to Itf Kenya for allowing me this opportunity and YouNet for making the conference possible.
